Memorial Service for Reverand Jean Wallenfang Saturday, August 9, 2025

Rev Jean Wallenfang, age 72, passed on May 27, 2025 in Janesville, WI. Rev Jean was born on August 8, 1952, in New London, WI, the oldest child of the late Clyde and Marion (Flunker) Wallenfang. A Memorial Service of Thanksgiving to God was held at Zion UCC on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm, followed by an ice cream social. Burial at Dale Union Cemetery followed the social hour. After graduating from New London High School in 1970, and UW-Stevens Point, Jean moved to Green Bay, WI and as a member of First Congregation UCC, Jean directed a choir and was active with the Wisconsin Council of the United Church of Christ. This led her to direct camp programs at Moon Beach Camp in St. Germain, WI. Her work within UCC Camps guided her to realize her call, and she graduated from seminary in 1994, and her career as a Minister began.

Darwin P. LaPean Memorial Service

Darwin P. LaPean, age 73, of Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully on Nov 9th, 2024. A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Zion UCC. A private burial was held after the memorial service. Dar was born on March 29, 1951, in Two Rivers, WI. Dar and Marge were married at Zion UCC in 1981. Dar was a well known businessman to the town of Dale, as the owner and master electrician of Dale Electric. The family relocated to Belleville, Illinois in 1994. Dar enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his favorite sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers. In his earlier years he was the lead singer and played guitar for local bands, “US Mail” and “Fat and Hickory”.

Bev Ziehl Funeral Service

The funeral service for Beverly Ziehl was held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Valley Funeral Home in Greenville, followed by a private burial will be at Highland Memorial Park. Bev, age 86, passed away on July 12, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1938, and was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ where she was baptized, confirmed and married LeRoy Ziehl on February 7, 1959. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Bev will be missed.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CONFIRMANDS

Confirmation Sunday June 1, 2025 at 10:30am

On Sunday, June 1st, Marshal, Nova and Kensley affirmed their baptisms during our worship service. A nice fellowship was held after service for them and their guests who attended to support them in their confirmation. Thank you to the parents and volunteers who supported this educational opportunity since September, and the Sunday school teachers who have also supported these young members in their faith journey. Vicar Kathy really enjoyed working with them and was honored to confirm them.
